Growing up as a primarily self-taught musician, Jay struggled to find a teacher who fit his personality and could coach him through his learning process. To ensure that every student maintains a connection to their instrument, he takes an individualized approach, focusing on a foundational element of proper technique but a strong component of musicianship and aural skills that make his students the best musicians they can be.
